The first-prize winner of the 2025 Queen Elisabeth Competition is set to make his debut in Lucerne: Nikola Meeuwsen, the first Dutch winner of the prestigious Belgian competition, will be performing at a Steinway Prizewinner Concert as part of Festival Strings Lucerne. The young pianist, who has caught the attention of the international music world with his exceptional musicality and technical brilliance, will be making his Lucerne debut.

For his first performance in Lucerne, Nikola Meeuwsen has put together a programme featuring some of the gems of the piano repertoire. Mendelssohn’s *Variations sérieuses* combine masterful form with virtuosic ingenuity. A particular highlight is Brahms’s arrangement for the left hand of Bach’s famous Chaconne – a fascinating encounter between two musical geniuses. Finally, Schubert’s Four Impromptus, Op. 90, are works brimming with poetry, depth and expressiveness.

A concert that not only brings together key masterpieces of the piano repertoire, but also offers the opportunity to experience one of the most promising young pianists at the start of an international career.
